Project Overview

The Town and Village of Canton are updating their 2018 Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan (LWRP) to align with the New York State Department of State’s 2024 LWRP Preparation Guidance and to build a unified vision for the community’s waterfront resources. This update will revisit the community’s goals for waterfront access, flood resilience, recreation, land and water use, and implementation strategies, ensuring consistency with State coastal policies and local priorities identified in the 2018 Canton Grasse River Waterfront Revitalization Plan. In accordance with updated State requirements, the Oswegatchie River (a designated inland waterway within the Town of Canton) will now be included in the LWRP boundary.
